Tenor recorder after P. Grece
The original of this tenor that has served as example for this recorder is collection of the Accademia Filarmonica in Bologna. It is a maple recorder in d, with a very slender bore. The model I make is tuned in C, with the same characteristical narrow bore. The head has the same narrow window. The speech is fast, with the typical "chiff" of an organ-pipe. It has a strong, warm, full tone, very suitable for solowork as well. The fingering is the same as that of a Ganassi recorder. Especially the model in yew wood (same price as plumwood) has a full and rich tone. This wood needs a little more care, though, than the harder woods like plum and boxwood. The instrument will be delivered in a soft cover, with oil, and cork-grease, and with thread-covered or corked joints. If you order a whole consort it is possible to have the instruments in a fitted case, made by Patrick & Celine Lecomte of Bracieux, France. Image
