baroque flute after A. Grenser
This flute by A. Grenser, dated 1796, is in the collection of the Gemeentemuseum in the Hague, Holland. There are four corps de rechange in respective pitches of a'= 418, 425, 430, and 438 Hz. Of the work of the instrument makers' family Grenser are many well kept flutes on exhibition in various museums and private collections. One can also find some recordings with these original instruments. The woodturning on this instrument is very fine and well-defined and done with great skill. A very late baroque instrument well suited for fast playing also in the third octave. A few adaptations had to be made to bring the instrument to the demands of 20th century concert standards, but with as little change to it's qualities as possible. The traverso will be delivered in one standard pitch of a'= 415 Hertz. Extra corps de rechange in the ‘original' pitches of 430 and 440 Hz. are available against extra charge. The baroque flute can also be fitted with a corkscrew. The boxwood can be stained or left unstained.Image
