FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: How and/or how often should I oil my instrument? You apply only a little(!) oil in the inside bore with a piece of cloth or a swab (one that does NOT leave behind threads or wool ). Only do this when the flute is dry. How often depends on how often you play and what wood the instrument is made of. There is a very detailed article in the News Section (Articles) describing anything you need to know and more about oil and your flute....Should I always clean and dry the instrument after playing?Yes, always clean the outside of the flute with a soft cloth and the inside with a chamois-leather swab and let the flute or recorder dry properly. How should I dry the instrument?Best is to dry it with a chamois-leather swab (or a piece of handkerchief) attached to a plastic or wooden rod. Then put the separate parts of the instrument to rest for at least two hours on a stand. Never in the sun, next to a radiator or heater, or in the draught. To prevent the formation of fungus, do NOT let it dry inside its cover or case. How long do I have to do without my instrument, and when can I bring it to you?Look here how long a normal repair takes. Your teacher can make an appointment for you directly in my schedule. You yourself may send an email for an appointment; my schedule is not publicly available on the internet. If you bring in the instrument on that time it will be ready within schedule. If you send it, it takes considerably longer; this entirely depends on how you send it (courier, snail-mail, airmail) and where you send it from. Within the EEC packages are not delayed by customs check, if they are well labeled and clearly state the contents, and that it is to be repaired. Sending from outside the EEC can cause considerable delays, if not declared properly. Please inform with your local customs office for exact information. If you do NOT make an appointment, it also takes longer, because of our waiting list. It will stay on the shelf until we have time for it.Is my flute ready? If you haven't heard from me, no it isn't. I will contact you when it is.. |
